Guests at AnoMansa have direct access to the Benya Lagoon—not just to our waterfront bar, but to a living body of water that is deeply connected to the spirit and history of Elmina. The Benya Lagoon has long been central to the community as a natural harbor that supported fishing and trade, a sacred site honoring the deity Nana Benya, and a key part of the annual Bakatue Festival. It also sustains a rich mangrove ecosystem, home to birdlife and vital for traditional salt production. In our section of the lagoon, we offer a peaceful, motor-free experience with activities such as stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and small boat rides (available for a fee), allowing guests to engage with the lagoon’s natural beauty in a respectful and sustainable way.

Looking ahead, AnoMansa is committed to sustainability and self-sufficiency—we will soon begin bottling our own water on-site to offer our guests a more environmentally conscious option.
